Pottery Portfolio

The images below show a sampling of my pottery from the last few years. Click on any image to enlarge. The decorations are made with hand-cut dies I’ve reconstructed based on the impressions found on actual pots and many are close replicas of extant Migration Period or Early Medieval pots (some of which are featured in blog posts here). Others are “original compositions” that combine forms, stamp motifs, and compositional elements drawn from multiple historical examples from the same general vicinity and time period. Some images show the pots prior to firing; I don’t always get a chance to photograph finished pieces before they are sold. Unless otherwise noted, all pots are thrown on a kick wheel and fired to Cone 6 (oxidation) and have a clear glazed liner. Feel free to contact me for details and historical sources for specific pots.
